Paladin Equity is a full-service real estate investment and development company. Paladin's existing projects include multifamily and student housing acquisition/rehab, entitlement, and ground-up construction, hospitality developments, hard money loans and other alternative investments.

Tim Trout
Tim Trout brings decades of experience in commercial real estate investment banking, private banking, and wealth management to Paladin Equity, where he is responsible for structuring and sourcing the firm’s real estate investments and financing.
Mr. Trout is also the co-founder of Sun Capital, a Los Angeles-based real estate private equity firm, along with Mr. Philip Powers. He had previously served as Senior Vice President for Boston Private Bank & Trust Company, where he led a team of professionals from its Pasadena Office and was named in the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the Most Influential Lenders in Los Angeles County. Mr. Trout had been Boston Private Bank's top revenue producer for four consecutive years, generating hundreds of millions in new financing opportunities. His extensive expertise in lending includes commercial real estate, business, nonprofit, private equity, and tax-exempt bond financing. Mr. Trout also served as a member of the bank's Loan Policy Committee, the Southern California Market Management Committee, and the CRA Committee.
Mr. Trout received a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and is a graduate of The Premier National Graduate School of Banking, Pacific Coast Banking School.

Philip Powers
Philip Powers brings over 30 years in commercial real estate finance and secondary market experience to Paladin Equity and is primarily responsible for managing the hospitality developments; Mr. Powers also co-founded Sun Capital, a Los Angeles real estate private equity firm, with Mr. Tim Trout.
Prior to Sun Capital, he was Chairman of the Southern California Market Management Committee, Chairman of the Southern California Sales & Marketing Committee, and Director of Business Development and Southern California Chief Lending Officer for Boston Private Bank & Trust. Before Boston Private Mr. Powers was Managing Director of the Los Angeles office of Carlton Group, an international commercial real estate investment banking firm. Mr. Powers managed the LA office of the firm and originated and assisted in the financing of numerous large debt and equity assignments.
Mr. Powers received his BA from Columbia College in New York City and his MBA with a concentration in Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business.

Midi Kimura
Midi Kimura brings over 20 years of experience of successful project delivery to Paladin Equity, where she is primarily responsible for driving projects to delivery, coordinating across teams, and producing progress reporting.
Prior to joining Paladin, Ms. Kimura has worked for Microsoft and CH2M HILL, now Jacobs Engineering Group, where she managed multi-disciplinary projects from investigation to construction with both financial and customer targets. More recently at Microsoft, Ms. Kimura was a project marketing manager for Xbox, bringing projects to completion through product and marketing plan launches.
Ms. Kimura received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in Civil Engineering and her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Washington Foster School of Business.

Elena Pu
Elena Pu brings over two decades of experience in investment and commercial trade business to Paladin Equity, where she is responsible for the company’s family office capital markets relationships. She participated in deal analysis and presentations, as well as oversaw key clients' financial or progress reports. Her long standing relationships and connections to family offices plays a key role in providing high yield alternative investment options to her clientele.
Prior to joining Paladin, Mrs. Pu had worked as an IT and internet marketing director for over 10 years, leading multimillion projects working with Fortune 500 companies, such as IBM, KODAK, Microsoft, Xerox, etc. She was also involved in various importing and exporting trading businesses and education consulting companies as one of the co-founders or business partners. She had worked on international multibillion acquisition and merge deals in communication and health industries. Her investment banking involvements also included the deals like the private aviation operation platform and AI driven multimedia news platform. etc. As one of the key partners, she had also operated a private jet travel company before.
Mrs. Pu received a Bachelors degree in Biology and Masters Degree in Finance in China prior to moving to the US where she went on to graduate from the University of Memphis with a degree in Information Technology and a Master of Science degree.

Alan Lee
Alan Lee brings over a decade experience in commercial real estate and banking to Paladin Equity, where he is responsible for the company’s on-site property management operations. His connections to construction material suppliers plays a key role in sourcing building materials at a cost advantageous position enhancing yield for investors.
Prior to joining Paladin, Mr. Lee worked as a portfolio manager at a number of banks, including East-West Bank and Bank of Hope. His approach to risk management is institutional in nature, implementing the necessary controls and protocol for his asset management duties.
Mr. Lee serves as an ambassador of San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce, active member of HKASC and Arcadia Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Lee received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Master’s Degree in International Business from the Graduate Institute of International Business, National Taipei University.

Sammie Qian
Sammie Qian brings over 7 years of experience in commercial real estate investment banking to Paladin Equity, where she is primarily responsible for preparing and auditing financial statements; analyzing investment opportunities; and handling the company’s accounting.
Prior to joining Paladin, Mrs. Qian worked for Mr. Tim Trout at Sun Capital, a Los Angeles-based real estate private equity firm, where she helped the company analyze its investment decisions and helped project and time profitable exits. She also controlled the company budget and oversaw daily operations.
Mrs. Qian is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder and an active member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles. She is also a Chartered Certified Accountant, an ACCA member, and a Registered Investment Advisor.
Mrs. Qian received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nottingham and her Masters of Public Administration with a concentration of Public Finance from the University of Pennsylvania.

Awari Muoneke
Awari Muoneke is a Financial Analyst for Paladin Equity and is responsible for underwriting investment opportunities and preparing project models for senior management's review.
Mr. Muoneke received his degree in Business Administration from the College of the Holy Cross.

Paladin is proud to have invested in high quality commercial real estate acquisition/rehab, entitlement, and ground-up construction projects in the Los Angeles area. These projects deploy Paladin and investors' funds to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns in investment timeframes of five years or less. While the company's focus is currently on multifamily and student housing, Paladin's principals have experience in and will consider all property types.

Property Management
Paladin manages properties for its own account and for its clients. Management includes day-to-day management of commercial and multifamily properties, along with hiring and management of subcontractors for renovation, tenant improvement work, and ground-up construction.

Real Estate Advisory
Paladin's principals have many years' experience obtaining debt and equity financing. Their extensive backgrounds in commercial banking allow them to obtain the best financing terms and conditions from a broad universe of equity and debt investors.
